I wish everyone knew that nowhere in the Bible is it stated that everyone goes to Heaven when they die. In fact, God’s Word is clear that most will be separated from God and spend eternity in Hell (Matthew 7:14). Hell is not something I would wish on anyone, but it will be and is already a reality for most.
Many professed Christians will not be in Heaven because they professed Christ, yet they never truly confessed Him as Lord and Savior. A multitude of church members will not be in Heaven because although they came to church, they never really came to Jesus. Many baptized Baptists, confirmed Methodists, as well as members of every other denomination will not be in Heaven because they never truly repented of their sin and placed their faith in Jesus.
Saying or even believing that you are a Christian doesn’t make you one. If no real change has taken place in your life since you professed Jesus as your Savior, you should reevaluate your relationship with Him.
The apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 5:19-21, “The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and lustful pleasures; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
So, is there evidence that one is really saved and has truly received the free gift of everlasting life? Yes! The evidence is called the Fruit of the Spirit and it is produced in the life of the true believer.
Galatians 5:22-26 tells us, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
Exhibiting these things in our lives does not save us, but shows evidence of our salvation. So, the next time a loved one passes away or a popular celebrity dies, don’t assume or believe that he or she went to Heaven unless it was evident by the life he or she lived.
Being a good person (something that is impossible without a relationship with Christ) or performing good works does not save us. Eternal life is a free gift that is given to those who repent of their sin and trust in Christ as the only Substitute who died for their sin on the cross and was raised from death to life (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Does everyone go to Heaven? Well, not according to the Word of God. Again, most do not go to Heaven.
The question to be asked is, "Are you going to Heaven?" You can and you will "if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead..."
